Hey everyone! My name is JaVe. Today is my 35th birthday and I am coming to you asking for help.

As some may know, 2025 started off with me losing my father (who did not have life insurance) and losing my job a couple weeks later. I am an only child and was left with the responsibility of taking care of my dad during his 18-month illness and his funeral expenses. Well I’m *still* trying to pay that and catch up nine months later.

Like so many other Black women, I have been applying to jobs with no success this entire year. Taking on freelance writing/editing/deep research jobs trying to make the ends meet. And I have exhausted ALL of the funds I have.

Some of you may also know I’ve been building GeneHouse. It is taking longer than I’d like this year because my brainpower has shifted to survival.

So for my birthday, I am asking for help so that I can:

- keep my roof over my head

- finish paying my dad’s funeral/cremation expenses and move him to his final resting spot

- catch up on back utilities and other bills of necessity

- shift that brainpower back to GeneHouse and get the app out to yall!

I am also seeking any job leads you may have. I have an MS Narrative Medicine, BS Chemistry, and a significant background in family health history.

If you’re still here, I really appreciate you reading this long. And please remember, the numbers you see in the news about job loss in this country are more than statistics. They are REAL people with real lives that are falling apart.
