Help Java Heal After a Traumatic Dog Park Attack

Hi Everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear furry friend Java—a sweet, funny, incredibly lovable black mini poodle mix who brings joy to everyone he meets. I’ve had the honor of being his proud “god/dog-mother” and trusted sitter for the past 3 years, and yesterday, something truly heartbreaking happened.

While at the dog park in Union City/Jersey City Heights, Java was seriously injured in an unexpected dog attack. His loving parents, Courtney rushed him to VEG Animal Hospital, with the help of a wonderful woman named, where the amazing emergency team—especially Dr. Jason Michael—provided fast, compassionate care and stabilized him.

A huge thank you to Sarah, a kind stranger who helped Courtney get Java to the hospital in those terrifying first moments.

We’re also very grateful to the owner of the other dog, who immediately took responsibility and has been supportive and offered help through this difficult situation.

Java is now home resting comfortably, but he has a long road to recovery. ❤️‍

His wounds are extensive and will require ongoing care, including likely skin grafts with a surgical specialist, as some tissue was too damaged to be saved. While he’s eating, drinking, and showing his sweet spirit, the healing journey ahead is significant.

If you know Java, you already know he’s not just any dog. He’s the kind of pup people try to take home from a party. He gets dropped off for get-togethers even when his parents can’t make it. He’s always on the invite list for every doggy playdate. And if you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’ve thrown a ball for him (possibly thousands of times). He lives for fetch, cuddles, and making new friends—two-legged or four.

Courtney and Logan are absolutely devastated. Java means the world to them—and to all of us who love him like family. We’re hoping that the dog community, friends, neighbors, and fellow animal lovers can come together to help with the cost of his care.

The emergency bills are already significant, and with surgery and follow-up treatments expected, any support—large or small—will make a huge difference. All funds will go directly toward Java’s recovery and care.

And heck, if we only raise enough for some new balls to toss his way, when he’s ready, he’ll be grateful!
