I’m reaching out because my sweet dog, Java, needs surgery, and I could really use some help getting her the care she deserves.

Over the past few weeks, Java developed a swelling under her chin that hasn’t gone away. After multiple vet visits and testing, we still don’t have a definitive diagnosis, but the leading concern is a salivary mucocele, which is a condition where saliva leaks under the skin and creates a growing pocket of fluid.

The good news is that this is treatable with surgery, and dogs typically recover really well. The hard part is the cost.

We’ve been referred to a surgical specialist, and the estimated total for imaging, anesthesia, surgery, and follow-up care is around $5,000.

Java is still herself... she’s cuddly, loving, and gets excited to see people... but she’s clearly uncomfortable and has started having trouble eating, which has been really hard to watch. This isn’t something that will resolve on its own, and she needs this procedure to prevent it from worsening and to get back to feeling like herself again.

Java means everything to me. She’s been my constant companion, my comfort, and such a bright, loving presence in my life. If you’ve ever met her, you know how sweet and special she is. She has survived IVDD surgery as well.
