Help Jasper Get Life-Saving Ear Surgery

Meet Jasper

I've always wanted cats of my own. When I finally found Jake and Jasper (two brothers from the same litter who'd been rescued from a hoarding situation) I knew they were meant to be mine.

Jasper had a rough start. Between 2-5 months old, something was blocking his airway so badly that he was nearly drowning in his own mucus. His early caregivers discovered a nasopharyngeal polyp and removed it, and afterward, Jasper transformed into the playful, cuddly cat he was always meant to be. They told me they would've kept him themselves - he's that special - but they wanted him and Jake to stay together. So in 2023, I brought both brothers home.

Jasper is pure joy. He's the cuddliest, most affectionate cat I've ever known. He and Jake do everything together: wrestling, cuddling, even drinking water side by side. He loves his food, his brother, and his dad.

Why Jasper Needs Surgery

After moving to Chicago in fall 2023, Jasper started showing signs of trouble in his left ear - irritation and brown discharge. Since March 2024, we've been working with vets to manage recurring infections in both ears. After over a year with a primary care vet, we were referred to a dermatologist who specializes in feline ears.

For the past six months, Jasper has seen the dermatologist regularly. He's had two CT scans: one to guide treatment and another to prepare for surgery. The most recent scan showed that Jasper needs a major procedure - removal of his left ear canal and thorough cleaning of the bulla (the bone structure in his inner ear). The good news is there's no bone infection yet, which means he has a strong chance of maintaining his quality of life.

The surgeon explained that ear issues like Jasper's are common in cats who've had nasopharyngeal polyps. Without this surgery, the infections will keep coming back and his condition will worsen. Right now, he's still playing and eating, but his ear irritation is growing. In his case, the survival rate is high and complications are relatively rare.

How You Can Help

I'm doing everything I can to give Jasper the care he needs. This surgery is connected to a health condition Jasper was born into - not something any of us could have prevented.

If you're able to donate toward Jasper's surgery, we'd be incredibly grateful. This sweet, joyful boy deserves to feel better, and with your help, we can get him on the road to recovery.
