Hi all,
I am setting up this GoFundMe campaign to help out my friend and business partner Jason Bryant. Below is what Jason said regarding his condition:
"In March of 2020, I started to develop pain. The pain was manageable until November 2020, when the severe issues began. I was admitted to the hospital in November and spent the next six weeks there. I had five surgeries over four days in December. My leg was amputated on December 21st, and I was released from the hospital on Christmas Day. I was admitted into outpatient therapy on January 1st and back home since January 6th.
The pain was in my foot, specifically toes, but also outside of the foot. This pain would also occur in my calf, gluteus, and lower back. Some days the pain wasn't there. Some days the pain wouldn't allow me to put a shoe on my foot, or even walk. In early November my foot from the toes to my ankle became ice cold and very sensitive. If I wasn't sitting up or standing my foot would "go to sleep" within a few minutes, and then it took 30 minutes for my foot to not be in pain. I wasn't able to sleep more than 15 minutes at a time, and when I did sleep, I knew I was going to wake up in experience severe pain. I visited the ER 4 times for pain medication. I was finally admitted to the hospital shortly after that. The doctors found multiple blood clots in my lower leg. My lower leg was not getting any blood flow which caused all the pain. The doctors gave me a choice to manage the pain through horrible pain killers and live a poor quality of life or to amputate the leg below the knee and live the rest of my life with a prosthetic. I chose the amputation.
No root cause for the blood clots has been found at this time. I was a smoker for 26 years. I am no longer a smoker."
Jason further said:
"I come from a place of victory; God tells me so. I also lean on something my dad told me right before he passed away. He told me, "Jason, when I die, you must keep going. Keep going, son. Do not let this stop you.". So, I'm going to keep going. This is a new chapter in my life. I would be lying if I told you this doesn't suck at times. I am an independent guy, always on the go, but this has forced me to slow down. So far, slowing down has allowed me to see things differently, enjoy, and appreciate things more. I am in a great place at this moment. I am not sad, bitter, or anything negative. My heart and mind are positive and forward-thinking.
My son Chase will see his daddy fight, overcome, and embrace life with this minor setback. Once I get my fake leg in a couple of months, we will go back to fishing, riding bikes, playing ping pong, and so much more. This will not stop me, and hopefully, I can set a good example to him of how to not stop but keep going no matter the circumstances. We are victors, not victims.
Thank you to everyone who has shown support and been there. It's genuinely appreciated. I am so thankful for what I have, not sad because of the things I do not have.
God bless you all."
I have known Jason for 9 years now. He has been a great boss, a great business partner, and a great friend. He is always kind and generous. He is always first to offer help when someone is in need. Amongst the many good deeds, one that I clearly remembered is when Hurricane Harvey hit, he was out there, donating supplies, and helping out with distribution. His act inspired me to go out and do the same.
With what little I can do in this situation, I would like to start this GoFundMe campaign to help with his recovery and medical expenses.
I sincerely thank you all for your help.
