Help Jason Voorhees Heal from Car Accident
Tax deductible
Meet Jason Voorhees, a plucky 5 month old street cat.
On Friday the 13th Jason was found under a parked vehicle, likely hit by a car.
Jason has two broken back legs. His left leg can be repaired by a femoral head ostectomy (FHO), where the femoral head is removed leaving the hip socket empty. Scar tissue will develop over time to create a false joint that cushions the bone. Jason's right leg is a bit more complex.
We were given three options:
Amputation, however, removal of the right leg will put more stress on the left leg for the remainder of Jason's life.
Splinting the leg to achieve a suitable repair; the repair and the leg won't be perfect, but it will be suitable.
Tibial/Fibula fracture repair with plates & screws. This is the most costly (estimate of $5,965.02 to $7,001.02) and most difficult given Jason's age and the location of the fracture, there is a growth plate involved. In addition, there is no guarantee that the plates & screws will holdand we may have to eventually amputate.
After obtaining estimates and professional opinion, we have decided that splinting is the best option for Jason's right leg. This will require sedation to set the splint, weekly splint checks and possibly weekly splint changes, depending on his growth. Obviously these fees will add up but won't be anywhere near the cost of the repair with plates & screws.
After his right leg is healed, Jason will have the FHO surgery to repair his left leg. The estimate for this surgery (neuter included) is $1,988.28 to $2,621.56.
We need your help to offset the costs of Jason's care. Please help by donating or sharing this campaign with your friends & family!
