I am Heather Lockamy, and my husband Jason was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. (LCNEC)
In late 2025 Jason developed what seemed like a chest cold that wasn't getting better on its own. Being the stubborn man he is, he didn't want to go the doctor. I was worried he'd developed pneumonia. Then towards the end of January, he started experiencing chest pains. That quickly changed his mind about seeing the doctor!
That trip to the ER changed our lives. Instead of hearing pneumonia or infection, we heard tumor. A biopsy confirmed that it was indeed cancer. Further tests showed that it had metastisized to 6 spots in his brain as well.
So far, he's had 2 cycles of chemotherapy as well as 3 short sessions of radiation targeting the spots in his brain. He still has at least 4 cycles of chemo left and then more radiation to target the lung mass.
I am fortunate to work from home, and for a company that fully supports my family and I. But being down an income for an extended length of time is making it difficult to make ends meet. We have applied for Social Security Disability benefits but that process isn't a fast one. It will take a minimum of 3 months to receive benefits, if it's approved. We're hoping this may help to bridge the gap.
Should you wish to help, this is what we need most. Please do not feel obligated! We are well aware that money is tight for many families. But if you do choose to donate - any amount, no matter how small - please know that we are beyond grateful.
