Help Jason Shoemaker recover from a stroke
Donation protected
Update: After 8 days on the ventilator they were able to remove it. They did however have to place a trachea for long term care. Today he had his first physical therapy session, they say he did well for his first time. Jay was able to follow commands pertaining to his right side only, he has not been able to move his left side but they will continue to work on that. He was moving his lips and wanted to talk but didn’t quite understand why he couldn’t. He did seem to understand that he was in the hospital and he was very emotional. Please keep sending him healing wishes. Thanks so much.
On August 20th, my nephew, Jason Shoemaker, a 26 year old, had a massive, hemorrhagic stroke at his home while resting on the couch. Jason had left side paralysis and was rushed to the UofL stroke team and needed immediate emergency brain surgery to save his life. A stroke of this nature is rare in such a young person and Jason will have a long road to recovery. Right now we are just trying to get him off the ventilator and see how much function he has lost. His rehab will take months/years and without any income coming in we will need help with his mortgage and other vitals. Disability can take a while and it’s never enough for medical bills and living expenses.. Any help will be greatly appreciated and will assist more than you know. Thank you.
