My name is Sherry, and I’m raising funds for myself and my boyfriend, Jason. In August 2025, Jason suffered a stroke that changed our lives overnight. From August 13th to September 25th, he endured five hospital stays and two rehabilitation centers before finally coming home. Since then, he has had no mobility on his left side and needs 24-hour care. I was told I could stay home and be paid to care for him, but due to insurance delays, we were placed on a waiting list that could take up to a year.
With bills piling up and a car payment to manage, I had no choice but to try working while Jason slept. Thankfully, my employer has been understanding, but I’ve still lost up to 10 hours of work each week when Jason isn’t doing well. It’s been a struggle to keep up with our car payments, and our current vehicle isn’t reliable or suitable for Jason’s needs—especially in the winter, when I sometimes get stuck trying to get him to his necessary appointments with his neurologist, primary care doctor, and physical therapist. Jason just wants to be able to do more for himself, and I want to make sure he can get the care he needs.
We can’t afford any more payments, so we’re hoping to raise enough to purchase a used SUV with 4-wheel drive and add an electric wheelchair mobility lift. This would make it possible for Jason to get to his appointments safely and help us regain some independence. I want to thank anyone who can help us—your support would relieve so much stress for me, and most importantly, it would allow Jason to make his appointments without worry. We would love to be able to get out of the house and make the most of our new normal life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
