Help Jason Schofield Fight MRSA & Rickettsial
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Emma Schofield, and I am the oldest daughter of Jason Schofield. I'm writing today to ask for support as my dad was recently admitted to the hospital with a serious life-threatening illness and will need to remain there for at least a month. My dad is a loving father to 8 children and his wife, Avery who depend on him to be a provider for his family. He has always stepped up in every way to be there for us and now I am trying to be there for him.
My dad was diagnosed with a rare disease called Rickettsial, also known as spotted fever. It is a potentially serious disease caused by bacteria called Rickettsia that is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected ticks, fleas, or mites. While fighting this infection in the hospital, he was diagnosed with a second infection in his bloodstream called MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Staphylococcus aureus (staph) is a very common germ. About one out of every three people have the germ on their skin or in their nose. This germ does not cause problems for most people. MRSA is a type of staph that is resistant to most antibiotics and is often fatal. The infectious disease doctor called his diagnosis "extremely rare" and "the perfect storm".
My family and I are terrified and the last thing I want my parents to have to worry about is how they are going to pay their bills and take care of my siblings while my dad tries to recover over the next month or longer. My dad also does not have health insurance despite always working full-time so medical bills are also a big concern. Please consider making a donation to help support my family through this. The amount doesn't matter because everything adds up. Please keep my dad and my family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
