Help Jason post amputation

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read our story. My name is Kate Loomis, and my husband Jason Loomis is who this is really about. Two weeks ago as we prepared to move into our first home (our dream home, in fact!) Jason became very ill. At first we thought it was his Crohn's disease, as that’s been a fact of life for several years. So, as the movers arrived, Jason was deteriorating but we still made the move happen, mostly. The truck they brought was too small, and half of our belongings had to stay behind. But the big stuff got to the new house. We got Jason settled in the new house, but he was not improving. By Sunday morning we decided to go to the ER, but he was so weak we had to call an ambulance. At the local urgent care we found out he had Covid, internal bleeding, as well as extremely high blood sugar due to being diabetic. On top of all that, he had a severe infection in his left leg that had turned septic! Now at the nearest trauma center (40 min from our new home), we were informed that he urgently needed an amputation to save his life. Without it they did not believe he had 24 hours to live. Monday night he was in surgery having his left foot removed. Since then we had 10 days in isolation due to Covid, but the infection is gone now. His diabetes is much better, and he's had lots of of PT and OT to prepare him for a stay (one to two weeks) at an inpatient physical rehabilitation facility.
With all of this, of course, he’s unable to work and my job is no where near enough to sustain us all. We also have the additional costs of paying rent at our former house (our landlord has extended our lease until we can make arrangements to get the rest of our belongings moved), plus the cost of daily trips to and from the hospital to be with him. My job is being flexible and I’m working from his hospital room but again, he’s the major breadwinner for us. We will also be facing the expenses of making our home accessible for him after this life-altering surgery by adding things like a ramp and shower rails. This amputation is going to completely change our lives and will mean months of therapy as Jason attempts to regain a normal life. So we find ourselves needing help to be able to handle these unexpected expenses. If you’re able to donate, we cannot thank you enough. If all you can do is share our story we understand, and appreciate it.
Any money raised will go towards medical bills- which will be substantial- as well as paying the extra expenses of rent at both our previous place and the cost of the house we just bought. It will also make possible the modifications (railings, a ramp, etc) we need to make so it’s safe for Jason to come home. We will also have the costs of any mobility aids he may need until he’s ready for a prosthetic in a few months. And the costs (gas, etc) for me to be at the hospital daily to support him. Thank you again for any support you can give be it monetary or sharing our story.
