Help Jason Leonard's Family W Funeral, Medical and Expenses
Donation protected
My name is Dawn and Jason Leonard is my youngest brother. In December of 2022, he was diagnosed with adrenal cancer, which is a very rare form of cancer. Less than 200 people worldwide are diagnosed each year. At 45 years old, he underwent surgery to remove his adrenal gland and his gallbladder. The removal of his adrenal gland resulted in adrenal insufficiency, requiring daily medication for survival.
For one year prior, he was diagnosed with a rare blood clotting disorder called Protein S Deficiency which requires a very expensive blood thinner injection (Lovenox) twice daily. He has endured radiation and oral chemotherapy and in August of 2023, a PET scan revealed that the cancer had spread and advanced him to Stage 4. More aggressive treatment was ordered and a port was placed in his chest.
My sister-in-law, Carol, travelled with him an hour each way four days every three weeks hoping to extend his life. In May of this year, Jason and Carol went to MD Anderson in hopes that he would be accepted into a trial that the team there had recently completed using Cabozantinib.
Jason had not been able to work and this has created an immense financial strain. Insurance does not cover all medical/prescription expenses and definitely does not cover travel expenses. Travelling to Houston for this trial will be a huge undertaking. Please consider contributing and sharing this with others. Your generosity and support would be greatly appreciated at this time.
