Help Jason Kalisz Fight CRPS: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers. We come to you today with heavy hearts and an urgent plea to support an extraordinary man, Jason Kalisz, in his courageous battle against Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). This devastating condition, often referred to as "the suicide disease," is not only one of the most excruciatingly painful afflictions known to medicine but also incredibly rare. Affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the United States, CRPS is classified as a rare disease, and Jason’s case is among one of the most severe that specialists have encountered. It has turned Jason’s once vibrant life into a daily struggle.

About Jason
I have known Jason for over 15 years and he has always been like family to me. When I was going through hard times and down on my luck, Jason and Sarai always had a place for me and a spot at the dinner table. This accident happened so suddenly when he was moving to Las Vegas for a job promotion has been detrimental to their way of life. He hasn't been able to work in over 3 years and is desperately trying to get back to normal so he can provide for his family again. If anyone deserves your help, Jason does.

Jason is a devoted husband to Sarai and a loving father to two incredible boys, Liam (11) and Colt (10). At 41 years old, Jason was full of energy and enthusiasm—a hardworking, athletic man, soccer and baseball coach to his children, and loved organizing barbecues and social gatherings for his friends, neighbors, and family. But in 2021, during a work relocation to Las Vegas, a torn bicep injury set off a chain of events that would change his life forever.

The Struggle
After a botched surgery in Las Vegas intended to repair his torn bicep, Jason was diagnosed with CRPS, a chronic & debilitating pain condition, extremely difficult to cure and treat. The initial procedure failed to repair his tendon, leading to a second surgery performed by 2 of the top hand and arm surgeons in the country, at the renowned Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. While the second surgery successfully addressed the physical injury, by then, CRPS had taken hold.
Since then, Jason has endured relentless pain and disability. CRPS causes unbearable sensitivity, swelling, and searing pain, making even the gentlest touch intolerable. Over the past few years, Jason has sought treatment from top specialists at Stanford, the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, and other esteemed institutions. Despite undergoing countless trial procedures- therapies, nerve blocks, ketamine infusions, TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), dry needling, red light laser therapy, and more—Jason’s pain persists, leaving him unable to work and robbing him of the life he once loved.
Jason’s condition has also placed a significant strain on his family. Sarai has had to shoulder the burden of caregiving while managing the emotional and parental challenges of raising their children under these difficult circumstances. Despite their resilience, the family’s resources and strength are stretched thin.

A Glimmer of Hope
Recent advances in medical science have opened up promising new treatments for CRPS, including stem cell therapy, exosomes, hyperbaric chambers, and neridronate treatments. These cutting-edge procedures are available in specialized clinics in Mexico, Italy, Costa Rica, Greece, and the United States. However, they come at a significant financial cost and are not covered by insurance.

Our Goal
We aim to raise $82,000 to fund Jason’s medical treatments, travel, and associated expenses. This amount represents a chance for Jason to reclaim his health and break free from the unrelenting grip of CRPS. Every dollar brings him closer to a life free of constant pain.
