Help Jason Jones heal his heart!

It's Jason's favorite ex-wife hosting a fundraiser for him!

My long-term chronic medical problems have really put a huge strain on Jason trying to take up the slack. He has worked so incredibly hard to provide for his children. He took on a very challenging role at Walmart that is extremely physically taxing. He is bending, lifting, cooking, cleaning, and quick on his feet the whole time. Jason has been a dedicated, hard-working employee that has gone above and beyond and been endlessly reliable, missing a lot of events and activities with his children.

While working in October of 2024, he lacerated his leg so severely he was taken by ambulance to the emergency room. He still continued to work full-time. Then in February 2025, while at work, he was overcome with cleaning chemical fumes and hot fryer oil smoke, and coughed himself into an extremely large lower abdominal hernia. A major surgery was performed to correct this, causing Jason to miss work for a long recovery. He was only paid a small fraction of his income at that time. He then returned to work full-time giving his all.

On May 1st, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and missed work while recovering on medications. He was only paid a small fraction of his pay at that time. Immediately after his medication was completed, an extremely rare 9 cm tumor was found inside his heart. Jason was rushed to the emergency room on May 12th, then connected to a defibrillator and flown by an ambulance crew helicopter to the next closest major city hospital. On May 15th, 2025, Jason had emergency open-heart surgery to remove the tumor successfully. He then spent a week in the cardiovascular ICU.

Being that his heart, lungs, rib cage, and muscles all need to heal and go through rehabilitation, he is projected to not be able to return to work until mid-August 2025. Jason has continued to keep in contact with his employer and their benefit providers. He has tackled the endless back and forth of submitting the correct documents to be approved. Due to him being out for surgery twice in a short amount of time, this affects how the formula is calculated to determine what would be 50% of his average weekly pay. We have tried to correct this calculation, but have reached the end of the process. The result is that Jason will be receiving about 15% full-time weekly pay while he is recovering for the Summer of 2025.

Jason is one of the kindest, most generous, loving people we are all lucky to call our friend. He really deserves this stress relief. Thank you so much for donating and sharing his story
