Update 2/24/25: Jason is back in the hospital. Currently at Republic County Hospital awaiting an open bed in a bigger hospital. His labs are worse and he has a significant amount of fluid on his abdomen. The GI specialist thinks he might have peritonitis, which is an infection in the abdominal cavity, so he will be having that drained off and tested.

Update 2/21/25: Jason has been discharged from the hospital and is now home! We are so thankful for all those who have donated, shared the link and offered to help in so many ways. Jason still has a long road ahead to recover fully, but he'll get there eventually!

Jason had just had knee surgery in December to have his ACL repaired, he's been off work since October, and his insurance was cancelled at the end of December. With no insurance- 10 days in the hospital along with follow up appointments with specialists, his primary physician and weekly lab tests will be financially devastating. Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to ask for support for my husband, Jason Hamm, who is currently in critical care at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Jason has been sick for 17 days, and 6 days ago his condition took a sudden and severe turn. We were at Belleville Medical Clinic when his body started to shut down—he was jaundiced, mottled, weak, and confused. He was septic and in liver failure. I want to thank the incredible efforts of Republic County Hospital and Republic County EMS; they stabilized him and quickly transported him to Lincoln, Nebraska.

Right now, Jason is resting as comfortably as possible and was starting to improve, but he has a long road ahead. He’s battling influenza A, bilateral pneumonia, a potentially bad gallbladder, and worsening abnormal lab results. He is not currently a candidate for surgery due to his liver failure.

We are so grateful for all the love, prayers, and well wishes we’ve received so far. Any financial support to help cover his medical expenses would mean the world to us during this incredibly difficult time. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, and we are facing significant medical expenses, including ambulance transfers, emergency fees, ongoing treatment, and follow-up.
