Hi, I’m Jason, a single dad to amazing seven-year-old twin boys.

I was diagnosed in June 2025 with a form of Stage 3 cancer. Since then, I’ve had two operations, including a neck dissection (yes, that does sound like one of the countless dodgy heavy metal bands I've written about over the last 35 years) and 30 blasts of radiotherapy.

I've been in remission since January 2026, for which I'm very grateful.

So... why is this GoFundMe campaign still active?

Cancer didn't just knock me out of action physically. Treatment and recovery also did fairly spectacular damage to my finances. I took on personal loans and substantial credit-card debt to get through it, while my ability to work and earn was badly affected.

Thanks to the extraordinary help I've received here, the £10,000 personal loan that helped get me through cancer treatment has now been repaid in full.

I'm now rebuilding my working life too. I've started a new line of work alongside my writing and i hope that this will move my income somewhere back towards where it was before cancer came knocking.

There's still a substantial financial aftermath to deal with, including other personal debts and expensive credit cards. So any further donations will help me bring those debts down, reduce the amount disappearing every month in interest and payments, and get back onto stable ground

financially.

Any amount, no matter how small, will genuinely make a difference, but please don't feel under any obligation. The support, messages and kindness I've received over the last year have already meant a great deal to me.
