Help Jason Get a Life-Saving Liver Transplant

My name is Ayla Chandler and one of my husband's best friends, along with our roommate and uncle to our children, has recently been admitted to the hospital.

Jason (AKA Jay) is only 33 years old. He is the owner of Shade Tree Automotive and has one child, which is a big ole American pitty named Tahoe. Jay has struggled with gout for a long time, which he has maintained. Around April 2025, he went to the beach, which was a normal routine for him. This ended quickly when he found himself almost drowning due to his legs randomly giving out on him. We got him to his primary doctor, who drained the fluid from his knee due to the gout. We received news that his white blood cell count was extremely high, and his doctor was worried he had leukemia and advised him to go straight to the ER. April 24th, 2025, was the first time he was admitted to the hospital, where we found out he does not have leukemia, but he did have gallbladder stones, a swollen spleen, a swollen liver, Hep B, and nephropathy. He eventually was let out of the hospital with just needing to check in with his primary doctor and do physical therapy.

Fast forward to November, he has become completely and extremely jaundiced, still has no mobility in his legs, along with the "shakes," and his stomach is extremely swollen. I took him to North Central Baptist in San Antonio on November 4th. We found out he has cirrhosis of the liver, ascites (fluid in the stomach), and a high white blood cell count again. He had to be transferred to Methodist Transplant Specialty Hospital, where he has been admitted to the ICU for 4 days now. He is in end-stage liver failure with his kidneys shot and liver at 40%. They told him he has about 2-3 months left if he doesn't receive a liver transplant. He doesn't have insurance as it has been hell trying to get him either Medicaid or disability due to his illness and not being able to work or even walk. The doctor said we need to come together and show our support. We were able to get him on a health insurance plan that starts December 1. But because it’s health insurance there will be co pays. We are asking for help as he is still too young and doesn't want to go, nor is it his time just yet.
donations will go to helping with co pays, bills in the meantime, for things he needs along this road to recovery pre and post transplant.
