Help Marec and Jason find their forever home
Meet Marec and Jason!
Marec is an 11th grade student at Emmaus High School and Jason is Marec’s 38 year young Down Syndrome brother.
Marec, Jason, and their family are homeless and are in desperate need of our help.
Marec and his brother Jason are sharing a hotel room with their Mother and Uncle. As like so many, Marec’s mom was laid off back in March of 2020. Money became tight and with no hope of being called back to work, she pressed on, trying to keep up with rent and bills by driving Uber, Lyft, Doordash, and Instacart, but despite all efforts, the money was never enough, quick enough. Eventually they had to put all their belongings into storage. With their entire savings wiped out, they were not able to secure a new home.
Marec, his mom, and his uncle are all working, but with paying hotel charges, storage fees, car payment, bills and groceries, there is never any money left to save for a security deposit and first andlast month rent, in order to secure a home.
Marec is really worried about his brother Jason. He is not doing well now that his world has been turned upside down. Jason doesn’t understand why he is living in a hotel. What he does understand is that he wants to go home, he wants to watch movies in his own room, he wants to sleep in his own bed. He cries often asking, “Where is my room?” and “ Where is my bed?” He even refuses to take necessary medication, saying, “Can’t. No house.”
Marec fears Jason’s sadness will take a toll on his health. Jason has only left the hotel room a handful of times because when his family says, “Let’s go out!”, Jason gets excited and says, “New house?!” When they tell him no, he gets sad and refuses to go anywhere, leaving the family heartbroken.
Marec and Jason need stability in a safe environment and desire to stay in our awesome community that is East Penn!
You are all amazing people so I am asking if you can please find it in your hearts to help me help them get back into a home?
Please donate if you can and also please share.
I know the family will be eternally grateful!!
