Support Jason Zadorski’s Fight Against GBM

Hello everyone, we are reaching out today on behalf of Jason Zadorski, a son, husband, step-father, uncle, cousin, brother, friend, running mate and beloved member of our community. For those of you who may not know, Jason was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma (GBM), a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. 

 

On January 20th, Jason experienced a grand mal seizure while he was home alone. The seizure caused him to lose consciousness and fall, which resulted in a fracture on his right suborbital bone beneath his eye and four vertebrae.  When he gained consciousness, he noticed the facial trauma, reached out to his wife, Aimee, and went to the NCH North Hospital.  After running a series of medical tests and procedures, he received the challenging diagnosis. The average life expectancy of Stage 4 GBM post diagnosis is 12 to 18 months.  Despite the grim prognosis, Jason is facing this battle with incredible positivity, courage and determination.

 

Jason's Journey: Following his seizure, Jason underwent multiple scans and tests, ultimately resulting in an open craniotomy to remove one tumor from his right frontal lobe. However, he is now facing three additional inoperable tumors in his brain due to their location. Under the care of Dr. Bruce Knakfoor of Inspire Oncology and Dr. Jennifer Mueller of Florida Cancer Specialists, Jason has embarked on an aggressive treatment plan involving chemotherapy and daily targeted radiation. He has also enrolled in two clinical drug trials and a new procedure trial, while consulting with the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Northwell Brain Tumor Center in New York and the Miami Cancer Institute. Jason is seeking every possible avenue for treatment.  

 

Impact on Jason's Life: The emotional toll of this diagnosis has been daunting for Jason and his loved ones. He is currently unable to drive due to the risk of seizures, impacting his ability to work and maintain his independence. With the support of his father acting as his chaperone and encouragement of his doctors, Jason is determined to regain his physical strength and continue fighting against this disease. However, he anticipates ongoing challenges as he navigates through various treatments and clinical trials in the coming months.

 

Financial Challenges: As Jason continues his battle against GBM, he is facing significant financial burdens. Medical bills have already reached $108,000, with more expected to come. While treatment and medications are essential, the costs associated with travel for trials, ongoing medical expenses, and potential late-stage home care are adding up quickly.

By alleviating the financial stress, we can enable Jason to focus on his treatment without additional worries.
