Jason Dean got diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma.  It all started out when he had smashed his pinky and lost half his nail.  There was a black spot, like a blood blister, and it started to grow.  When he went to have it checked out they took a sample and when it came back it came back positive for cancer.  He ended up needing to have his pinky removed as well as 3 lymph nodes from his arm pit.  and having additional tests done to see how far it had gone.  Jason had gone under a couple of treatments to treat the cancer and ended up with major side effects such as causing his liver to fail.  There had been a spot on his lung that they were keeping an eye on since it was too small to mark as cancer.  A week ago he received bad news.  He was told that now he has spots in his brain, lung, and liver.  There are three spots in his brain one of which could cause potential loss of eye sight to his right eye.  Jason is getting ready to undergo brain surgery with cutting edge technology called Gamma Knife this today.  After that they plan to address treatment to his liver and lung.
Jason has lived in Alaska for 32 years and has worked caring for others as a Nursing Assistant for 25 years.  Now he needs our help.  Jason is an amazing father and has 3 children and 2 Grand kids.  Being a father means everything to him.  He is a beloved co-worker but due to the treatment he is receiving along with taking pain medication he is no longer able to work.  He will be needing a lot of help and support from the community.  Any little bit will help as he will be needing to be in Anchorage for his treatments.  Please help us meet his goal.
