Help Jason Chase His Dream: Slaying Abroad in London!

Hello everyone,

My name is Jason Alvarez, and I am a junior at Florida State University, passionately pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of becoming a film actor, envisioning myself in various roles on the big screen. My journey began with humble church plays, where even my one-liners received applause, and it has since evolved into a full-blown love for theatre.

Throughout middle and high school, I immersed myself in community theatre, competed in Florida Thespian Festivals, and held an officer position in my school’s Drama Club. These experiences solidified my passion for acting and led me to FSU, a place that has nurtured my artistic growth through its flexible BA Theatre Program and the supportive CARE program.

Over the past two years, I've honed my craft through various classes and projects, collaborating with the College of Motion Picture Arts, dancing in theatre productions, and participating in an on-campus dance group. These experiences have fueled my desire to further develop my skills, and I have an exciting opportunity to do just that.

I have been accepted into FSU’s Theatre Academy London (TAL) program for the Fall of 2024! This program offers the chance to train with West End professionals, improve my dancing skills, and immerse myself in a vibrant cultural scene. Outside of classes, I’ll attend masterclasses, take choreography lessons at renowned studios like Pineapple Dance Studios and Playground London, watch West End shows, and travel around Europe.

However, the financial challenge is significant. The tuition for this program is $17,325, excluding airfare, food, supplies, and personal expenses. Coming from a low-income family, this amount is a daunting obstacle. While I have secured some scholarships and grants, they are not enough to cover all the costs. This is where I need your help.
