Calling all animal lovers! My name is Jason Bennett. There was a dog who lived on the balcony of a 7th-floor apartment in my building. This poor animal was never allowed inside the house, and sometimes the owner would open the door just to slap it when he barked. Myself and other neighbors reported it to building management and Long Beach Animal Services, but nothing was done to help this poor animal.

On Memorial Day weekend, the owners went away and left the dog on the balcony, and this dog was so tiny that he managed to slip through the balcony rails and plunged 7 stories to his death. As a dog owner and animal lover, I was furious. Against my better judgment, I wrote "dog killer" on their door with a marker, and as I was writing it, the guy opened the door and we got into a confrontation where I cursed him out and called him an animal murderer. The police were called, and I ended up being detained and cited for "stalking and vandalism."

I have a court date on August 29th and the attorney is asking for $3000 to help me fight these charges against me. I know what I did was wrong, but I'm 36 with no criminal background and I just want to make this go away. Can you find it in your heart to help me with my legal defense?
