Approximately 2 1/2 months ago, Jason started noticing some dizzy spells and as days went on, started getting extremely dizzy his legs would shake vigorously and lose Paralysis to where he would have to sit …called the doctor. They told him to watch it days went by. He began to just get dizzy and fall …headaches everyday ..started getting blurred vision, double vision they took bloodwork after bloodwork. The doctor continued to say we need to monitor it, so I called the doctors office may have had some strong words demanded more be done. Got MRI ordered and scheduled..about a week before the MRI appointment..I received a call from him because he could not open our front door. We have a code which has been the same for many years, as I was on the phone trying to tell him the code he cannot comprehend. What a zero was when I got home? I immediately called the MRI center and said we needed to move the scheduled procedure up to tomorrow I didn’t care where I had to drive so he had the MRI the next day…And I called every day trying to get results .. the Monday after radiologist said we needed to go to the nearest emergency room with neurosurgeons on staff as there are multiple lesions while we were at Methodist Jason lost paralysis in his legs had confusion did not know the year his birthday, my birthday many things could not think of the word hospital. What a wristwatch was for about five or six hours, this was on Monday and things got worse as the week progressed. He had swelling and multiple lesions surrounding his brain so on Wednesday. We had scheduled a biopsy for brain tissue and spinal tap. The procedure went smoothly. Jason couldn’t remember anything being told to him …short term so when the doctor came in and told us the preliminary results appeared to be, Glioma and the tumors are surrounding his brain in the white and gray matter. I had to tell him about every 30 minutes ..on Thursday morning. He lost paralysis in his legs and had horrible headache had laid back on the bed and what appeared to be having a seizure they started scheduling a shunt be placed to allow fluid drainage And set up for an emergency EVD just in case..Thursday the shunt was placed in the back right side and within 12 hours was seeing a difference..He was remembering everyone that came by the day before he was remembering things you were telling him his cognitive skills had improved and we were able to come home Saturday, because he has tumors that surround his brain, they are in operable. The doctor says there are too many for surgery however we have faith radiology will shrink the tumors and chemo will kill the blood supply to control it. Glioma has no cure so he will have to take chemotherapy for life.
The largest tumor is in his right frontal lobe - this controls his memory and emotions / ability to control words. He doesn’t know he is being rude or mean.
His surgical sites are healing nicely and only has a little neck pain where the shunt tube goes down.
