Villa Sierra Vista: A Love Story and a Dream in the Making
Building Community and Memories in Alamos, Sonora, Mexico
Our Story: From Serendipity to Sierra Vista
In January 2017, Jason set out for Alamos, a picturesque town in Sonora, Mexico, not knowing the adventure and love that awaited him. By the third day of his visit, Jason found himself captivated by the town’s vibrant charm and serenity. Just a few days later, on his sixth day, fate introduced him to Trini—a meeting that would forever change both their lives. Their connection blossomed quickly, and Trini would become not only Jason’s life partner, but also his partner in a grand vision.
Come July of the same year, Jason invited Trini to his home in New Hampshire. Their relationship deepened, and by July 2018, they celebrated their marriage. With their hearts set on building a future together, they returned to Alamos and found a stunning piece of land adjacent to El Parque La Colorado. The land came with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains—a perfect backdrop for what they envisioned: Villa Sierra Vista.
Creating a Haven: The Birth of Villa Sierra Vista
Villa Sierra Vista was conceived as more than just a hotel—it is a welcoming sanctuary for travelers eager to experience the magic of Alamos while enjoying luxurious comfort. Over the past six years, the first floor of the villa has been lovingly completed, serving as a testament to Jason and Trini’s dedication and perseverance.
Yet, dreams take more than love and hard work—they require resources and community support. Now, with the first floor finished, the next phase awaits: constructing the second floor, adding a beautiful pool, and completing the landscaping. Construction of the pool is scheduled to begin in November, following the end of the rainy season.
The Challenge: Building Without Bank Mortgages
Unlike in many countries, Mexican banks do not provide mortgages for such properties. This means each step in construction must be paid for as it progresses. At the current pace, full completion of Villa Sierra Vista could stretch out until Jason turns 72—a timeline filled with humor and a touch of anxiety.
