As most of you know Jason had a stroke Saturday morning. We are all so thankful that Amanda quickly saw the signs and called an ambulance. It’s a Pontene stroke or cva, there is an occlusion on the right side of his brain. MRI showed that the stroke did not turn into a bleed, which is good. Clots are still there, more than likely to remain there, and will be considered chronic or dead tissue. His stroke is classified as a medium size stroke.

The meds/blood thinners he is on is meant to break up the clots or blockage. The MRI results confirm that the meds did not fully break up the blockage, which is why he is still having paralysis on his left side.

His brain will have to retrain his left side on how to work. Biggest concern is his arm, unfortunately they don’t think it’s likely his arm will never be 100%, but optimistic he will get some mobility back.

He has feeling in his arm and leg, he can move his leg, just not the foot and ankle, and still no movement on his left arm or hand. They are very optimistic though, and we are getting a referral for an amazing neurological PT institute for him in Houston.

Timing for moving to a new facility is dependent on how fast the insurance approves the move. He is working hard everyday with in house OP. The next 7-14 days will give us the most info on how much of his mobility he will regain. We are looking at 6 months to a year of in and out patient intense rehab.

Amanda is self employed and will be taking these next few weeks off to be with Jason to help and learn as much as she can, so when he comes home they can have a successful transition.

Jason and Amanda will experience a loss of salary, medical premiums and out of pocket minimums expenses.
