On April 22, 2026, my 9-year-old dog Jasmine started limping on her front right paw. My husband and I checked her paw thoroughly, thinking she might have stepped on something sharp or been stung. About an hour later, we noticed she was limping on her right hind leg as well. We checked her hind paw but couldn’t find any cause. We gave her a doggy aspirin, thinking it might be arthritis, but soon after, she began dragging both paws. As the night went on, things got worse. By the next morning, Jasmine was completely paralyzed from the neck down on the right side of her body. She had no mobility at all. I immediately called every animal hospital in the area and got her in at Glendale Animal Hospital. After an exam, the doctor diagnosed Jasmine with IVDD—intervertebral disc disease. This is a spinal condition where the cushioning disc between vertebrae bulges or ruptures, pressing on the spinal cord. The doctor sent us home with pain medication and steroids to help with the inflammation, but Jasmine is now in the late stage of the disease. She is completely paralyzed and needs round-the-clock care. We feed and water her, and clean her when she has accidents, since she can no longer do these things for herself. Her surgery and care are very expensive, and we also need help with travel and food costs for us, doggy pads, soft diet foods (since she can’t eat hard food anymore), and a lift harness for her physical therapy after surgery. More vet visits are coming soon as well. Please, anything will help—even a dollar would mean so much to us and our fur baby. Please share with family and friends so we can get Jasmine the help she needs right now!
