Help Jasmine Pay For Cancer Treatment

Meet Jasmine.  She is truly as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  I encourage you to read her story, every last word.  This incredible young woman has quite the battle ahead of her and amazingly, it’s one she’s faced before.   On April 29, 2016 Jasmine was diagnosed with Desmoid Sarcoma.  She was 26 years old.  Desmoid tumors are incredibly rare, affecting an estimated 1 to 2 per 500,000 people worldwide.  In the United States, 900 to 1,500 new cases are diagnosed each year.  Before she was diagnosed, she had just received her Master’s degree in Special Education.  She felt blessed to find a flexible job as a behavior therapist practicing ABA while she completed her cancer treatments.  She battled from 2016 to 2019 with chronic pain and various complications.  She still manages related pain to this day.  The tumor itself is inoperable and still causes discomfort, but after successful rounds of treatment, Jasmine went into remission in 2019.  
 
In recent weeks, Jasmine developed increasing pain and sensitivity in the location of her tumor.  As fear crept in on what that may mean, her fear turned into reality.  On February 17, 2021, Jasmine learned that her cancer had in fact, returned.  As appointments were scheduled and treatments set, medical bills pile up as she waits in limbo for insurance coverage and financial aid.  Jasmine begins a costly oral chemo-therapy treatment on March 14 and is determined to work as long as she possibly can.  She often refers to her job working with children with unique needs as her own form of therapy.  Jasmine is such an incredible blessing to the Adaptive Learning Center, the family and child she serves and the classroom at The Preschool.  Our hope is to support her in whatever way we can and we encourage you to give whatever you are comfortable giving.  Anything helps.  We are incredibly grateful to be a part of such a loving community and are eager to surround her with love and support in every way possible.
