Help Jasmine Attend AFI!
**Update: Jasmine was able to cover the first tuition installment due to your donations! She still is in need of additional funds for tuition though so you still have time to contribute!**
Jasmine Karcey has been accepted into AFI's 2021 Cinematography program! As many of us who have worked with her know, Jasmine has been working in the camera department here in Portland for the last 6 years. Working as a Digital Utility and 2nd AC on union sets while also spending her downtime as Cinematographer on indie short films. Jasmine applied this last December to AFI and was accepted into the Cinematography program. For the 2 years she will be attending, Jasmine will need $128,000 not including living expenses. With savings and loans she has a portion of this covered for the first term but needs $32,000 for the second term due January.
AFI's MFA in Cinematography is a 2 year program and only accepts 18 students a year from all over the world! Jasmine will be moving this August to Los Angeles where she will be studying full time honing her craft as Director of Photography. The tuition runs at approximately $60,000 a year and due to the program’s intensity AFI does not allow students to work while attending. AFI recommends about $30,000 a year for living expenses during that time putting Jasmine's grant total at $180,000. Although Jasmine has received some student loans, she still needs help covering her full tuition.
