Never in my life did I expect this to happen to Jarrod, the nicest and most gentle guy I've ever known and best friend one could ask for.
Jarrod is a loving husband to Sharlene, committed father to his two little boys Jack and Noah, very much loved son to Elizabeth and late father, Stephen; as well as his two brothers and extended family. Jarrod is also a highly regarded friend and mate to those who have worked with him as an electrical linesperson for Energex Qld at the Beaudesert depot. Before moving to Queensland with his beautiful young family and taking up a trade, Jarrod had also been known in a wider regional community as a respected police officer in NSW and the NT.
Jarrod has always put the needs of others before his own, one of his many traits that stem from his Christian values. Certainly even getting Jarrod's ok to reach out here was something he was not wanting to burden anyone with.
In November 2021, after experiencing abdominal pain and fatigue Jarrod was diagnosed with Stage 4 (terminal) metastatic adenocarcinoma with liver infiltration. Jarrod was given 3 months to live if left untreated. Jarrod is currently undergoing chemotherapy with an 18 month prognosis if he responds well.
The news has broken all who know Jarrod. We would like to help give Jarrod and his family support to access supplementary treatments here in Australia and if possible at the Hallwang Clinic, Germany, an individualised oncology clinic seeing promising results through treatments not currently offered here in Australia.
Funds raised will go directly towards supporting Jarrod and his family to do this at this challenging time, with Jarrod pledging to return a portion of funds raised directly to the Turning Canungra Pink Foundation in thanks for their initial generous support through the Pink Assist Program.
Jarrod is 37 yrs old and has taken time off work to focus on his treatment and time with his family. Hopefully targeted treatment options may give them just that, some more time.
All that know him are praying for a miracle. As Sharlene says (which she has joked about with Jarrod), there's hope that this is just as slow & gentle as Jarrod himself and we pray that miracle may come and give us time so he may see his boys grow.
