Hi there I’m Cass and I’m trying to raise some funds for my partner Jarrid (age 25) who’s back in 2017 collapsed at work (he’s a house painter) and hasn’t been back to normal since. He’s a very proud man and doesn’t like asking for help and to be honest neither do i but in August he finally gets his surgery date to remove his disc between S5 and L1 -which is causing all of the trouble due to losing all its liquid -and replace it with a prosthetic one.

We have worked it out that $1,000 per month he has to be off of work after the surgery should be adequate to still help me pay all our bills (and have been told it’ll be a recovery time of 6-12 months but we won’t know until we get there). We have already sold multiple outdoor activities that we use to enjoy together like our bicycles, paddle boards and kayaks, etc because they’re things he just can’t physically do now with his back the way it is - he can barely still work.

He never got work cover as they said there were other factors in his life that could have been contributions to his injury and we have worked hard to keep ourselves afloat up until now with the fact that he can push himself to work a few days a week in between being so sore he’s bedridden. Centrelink isn’t an option either as they see my childcare worker wage as too much money.

Even if we don’t reach our goal absolutely anything will help us get through the recovery time.

(We have been waiting a lot longer than august 2021. Thanks to Covid we have been pushed back further and further but we now have a date 11.10.22 and are still in desperate need of help)
