Help Jarret fight his brain cancer battle

Donation protected
My name is Dora and I may know some of you but I’m positive you all know my boyfriend Jarret Melnick or “Brooklyn” as he is known in his motorcycle club. You may already know his story but in case you don’t here it is.

It all started the end of Dec 2018, when Jarret started experiencing major headaches and fevers on a daily basis. He would take over the counter medicines to break the fever and try to rest as much as he could. This was happening for several days. On the morning of Jan 4th, he woke up with an extremely high fever and a major headache, that he decided to go to urgent care. When he was checked in and was looked over by the Dr. who had done a flu test which came out negative and everything else seemed normal the urgent care Dr. decided to do a cat-scan on his brain because something was not adding up. It was there that the Dr. saw he had swelling in his brain. He was transferred from urgent care to Honor Health Hospital where there was a neurological team to do further testing.  That night they ran  more cat-scans and MRI’s and was told that he had a tumor in his brain and looked very aggressive. After what seemed like a long night it was confirmed that it was indeed cancerous.

Monday Jan 7, 2019 Jarret went in for surgery- it seemed like a lifetime before we got any news for his neurosurgeon. After several hours the Dr. came out to update his parents and I that the tumor was definitely cancerous and very aggressive and a rare type. He would definitely need chemotherapy or radiation or both. The Dr. was able to remove the whole tumor and all the tissue that was surrounding it, however he believes that there is still some cancer left behind that the human eye can't see.

Days felt like weeks as we waited for the full pathology report to come back to know the full extent of the cancer and what type.    Honor Health Hospital pathology could not confirm that exact type , so they sent his tissue samples to Barrows St Joes Hospital and they had an idea however wanted another opinion to confirm their diagnosis.   They sent samples to Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester,  Minnesota.  It was there where it was finally determined what his diagnosis was , Pheriphal T-Cell Lymphoma (NOS)  a very rare type of Cancer.

Jarret has seen an oncologist here in AZ and just recently made a trip to NY to meet with another oncologist.  Both are top Dr's in the field of dealing with T-Cell Lymphoma.   Working together both Dr's have come up with the treatment plan that they believe will work the best for him.  In the meantime,  Jarret is still in the process of getting more testing done to double check that cancer has not spread through out his body.  He recently went in to have a port placed in his chest in order to receive his chemotherapy and he also had a bone marrow test done.  He is still suffering from headaches but nothing compared to the previous pain he had.  He is sore and in little pain from the bone marrow test but he is truly a fighter.

Jarret will have anywhere between  3-6 cycles every 3 weeks  and every time he has a cycle done he will need to be hospitalized anywhere from 2-4 days, so he can be monitored thoroughly.    He will be getting a very strong and aggressive form of chemotherapy that will take a major toll on his body .  Once  he has completed his cycles of Chemotherapy he will be having a stem cell transplant which requires hospitalization anywhere from 2-6 weeks.

They money that is donated will be to help pay his medical expenses, daily life expenses and travel expenses for his parents who will be staying in a hotel near the hospital on the days he is hospitalized.  He is currently on short term disability which will be ending soon and he still has months of treatment and recovery before he is able to go back to work full-time.    Any amount that you can find it in your heart to donate is greatly appreciated.  We ask for your continued prayers and thoughts for the tough journey ahead.  Thank you and God Bless.
