Hi, this is Tony, Jarle’s son. He had a stroke on Dec. 11th which has affected his speech, ability to eat and left him paralyzed on his left side - so he has a long recovery ahead of him. 

 

It’s not easy to ask for help, but as you can imagine, recovery is going to take a long time and is expensive. We've just increased the amount we are hoping to raise as we've learned more about expected costs. (updated 3/18) Expenses so far have exceeded $12,000 and in the next 6 weeks expenses will be $15,000 - $20,000 as he will be fully responsible for his daily cost of care in the rehab as of April 4th. We learned that with Medicare the max out-of-pocket does not apply to rehab/skilled nursing facilities - so after 100 days, the costs are fully on Jarle.  Beyond the hospital/rehab, we are hoping to be able to help with his other expenses and bills. 

We will be selling the house as quickly as possible to help cover costs of care - anything you contribute is incredibly helpful to help with gap time before that happens.
