The Jared Memorial Fund

It's with our deepest, lasting sorrow that we share with you, my mother's youngest son, our baby brother, Jared Mark Sanz-Agero died about 5:00AM, February 19th. This is the last update my brother received at 6:50AM CST from Jared's doctor: "About "1 or 2" (am), the nurse was taking vitals and Jared said he didn't feel right. This was the 1st abnormal sign they got. They started diagnosing the issue with blood work, X-rays and a CAT scan. About 0500 hrs, they determined Jared was bleeding internally from an ulcer that had formed in his stomach. They were giving him blood and bringing him down to the operating room when he began to slip away. They tried everything and it was too much for him, Jared died from internal bleeding and loss of blood."
As you all can imagine, we are experiencing shocked disbelief. Based on the positive strides Jared had made recently, we are having incredible difficulty processing this horrible news, as we are sure you are too. Besides the crushing grief we feel, we are demanding more details and answers from his doctor and staff. At this time, we ask all to respect our privacy as we mourn as a family. While we appreciate greatly messages of love, condolences and support, please avoid phone calls, text messages or FaceBook IM, as we simply don't have the capacity to address your comfort and shared sorrow at this time. Again we love knowing that Jared had all of you, who cared so much to want him as we did, to STAY ALIVE.
Tears many, many tears. He will be missed forever by our family. You ALL have been so amazing, sharing your love and support over the last few weeks. It speaks volumes to the kind of person Jared was, to have friends and loved ones like you.
We are planning to have a memorial in a few weeks to celebrate Jared's life. We will post an announcement for all when the date is finalized. In lieu of flowers, please share any photos and stories of Jared as you knew him by posting them to his FB page. Sharing memories can be especially welcoming, healing and cathartic for all.
We thank all of you for your generous donations which the family now intends to use to pay for Jared’s outstanding medical costs and those relating to his death, including an autopsy so family and friends can have some closure, as well as transportation and final disposition of Jared’s remains.
The family also plans to dedicate a lasting memorial to Jared at the Kranzberg Arts Center (whether in the form of art installation, plaque, bench, something along those lines that is acceptable to the center and has some permanence) and to donate remaining amounts to the arts community that Jared so loved and was such an integral part of. That said, if anyone would like to request a refund of their contribution, we will of course honor it, without judgment.
