Jared Hawkley’s family and friends are organizing this fundraiser with his consent to help him on his road to a cure.

Jared recently experienced a sudden and unexpected diagnosis of Lymphoma. Although his disease is treatable and usually curable, he still faces a long road to recovery. Jared is currently at home with family while being treated at the University of Chicago.

We know some of you may wish to show your encouragement and support, whether it be financial, words of encouragement, or both. Anything and everything is appreciated during this time of treatment and healing.

A bit of background:

On December 28, 2022, Jared admitted himself to an ER in Los Angeles (where he was living) while experiencing shortness of breath, dizziness, and abdominal pain. A CT scan revealed a fist-sized mass in his central chest cavity. This mass was pressing on a major vein and his lungs. Subsequent tests pointed to a very aggressive lymphoma.

After numerous procedures, Jared agreed it would be best to move to Chicago to live with his family while getting treatment at the University of Chicago Medical Center. This is one of the leading cancer treatment hospitals in the country.

On February 1st, 2023, just two days after his arrival in Chicago, Jared met with the oncology team and was admitted for chemotherapy. The chemotherapy regimen consists of six 21-day cycles; each cycle involves about 5 days of getting chemotherapy as an inpatient, then 16 days back at home. The medical team assured us that Jared is highly likely to be cured of his lymphoma. We are optimistic.
