My son Jared McCormick is 28 years old and has been fighting for his health almost his entire life. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 7 years old, and celiac disease at 8. Since then, his life has depended on careful management, constant monitoring, and access to insulin just to stay alive. At 17, he lost vision in one eye. In December, his health took a devastating turn. He suffered a stroke caused by dangerously high blood pressure. Around that same time, he was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. Since then, everything has changed. He has been out of work for the past month and is currently appealing denials for both disability and Medicaid. We are using every resource we can find, but it’s not enough. Right now, he cannot safely work or even drive. Any physical exertion causes extreme fatigue, dizziness, and episodes of vision loss. These symptoms are happening daily. And now we are facing something even more urgent. He is currently out of his long-acting insulin and quickly running out of his fast-acting insulin. Without insulin, a person with Type 1 diabetes cannot survive. This is not optional care. This is life or death. We are asking for help to cover the cost of: Long-acting and fast-acting insulin Diabetic supplies (needles, test strips, monitoring devices) Medical care and ongoing treatment Every donation, no matter the amount, helps keep him alive while we fight through the system to get the support he desperately needs. If you cannot donate, please share this. That alone can make a difference. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can give during this incredibly difficult time.
