Help Support Jared and His Family as he Battles Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Our names are Evelyn Lipps and Lindsey Michals. We created this fundraiser for our dear friend Amanda O’Leary and her boyfriend Egon Doerr (Jared’s father), whose son Jared, at only 11 years old, was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This diagnosis has torn their lives apart.
For the past month, Jared has been to the emergency room numerous times with abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Each time, he was diagnosed as being constipated based on an X-ray, given an enema, and sent on his way with a variety of medicines to help clean him out. However, the situation did not resolve, and Jared’s pain was increasing. After having blood in his stool, his mother took him to the hospital and insisted that more testing needed to be done. He was admitted on 5/15, where they inserted an NG tube to decompress his bowels. However, a CT scan done at night showed something far worse than they ever suspected. The CT scan showed a mass in his bowels and that it had also spread. This type of cancer is very aggressive but is treatable with intensive chemotherapy.
Right now, Jared continues to be admitted and will be getting a port tomorrow and starting chemo, which will be injected directly into his bone marrow.
The road ahead is daunting for anyone, and he will need his parents' support to hold his hand for the tough days ahead. This will present a heavy financial burden on the family, with his parents taking time off of work. There is a mortgage and a multitude of bills and everyday expenses to be paid. We would like to ease their burden with this fundraiser.
Jared’s mom, Amanda, is the sweetest person in the world and would do anything for anyone. Family has always been the most important thing to her. Knowing a part of her family is facing a horrible illness is heartbreaking, coupled with the fact that they had to put their dog down the very week Jared was diagnosed. How much can one person take?
Please consider donating and sharing Jared’s story with everyone!
