Hi, my name is Kelsey Hickman, and I’m raising funds to help cover urgent medical expenses for our beloved dog, Jarby. We’re trying to raise $5,000 to save his life and give him the pain-free future he deserves.

Jarby has been part of our family for over a decade. I brought him home when he was just a year old, and a year later, I welcomed my first son, Oliver—who’s now 10. They’ve grown up side-by-side, and Jarby has always been more than a pet—he’s family.

Recently, Jarby returned to my care after spending years away, and it quickly became clear that he needed help. Last summer, he suffered a severe injury to his paw that was never properly treated. The paw was fractured, and a large section of tissue was lost. Unfortunately, the bones healed incorrectly and became twisted, trapping infection deep inside the wound. That infection has now reached the bone, and Jarby has been diagnosed with osteomyelitis, a serious and painful bone infection.

The only way to save him now is through amputation surgery, which will stop the spread of infection and relieve him of constant pain. In addition, Jarby has been diagnosed with three separate tick-borne illnesses. Thankfully, these are treatable, and with the right care, he’s expected to make a full recovery.

Since he has been here with us he has already shown such a huge improvement and is slowly gaining his strength back. He is currently unable to walk much at all, but with your help, he can heal and return to a full, joyful life. We live on a small farm, and he is already surrounded by love—especially from our two boys and our other dog, Nola, who has become his protective shadow and cuddle buddy.

Life-saving amputation surgery

Medication and treatment for tick-borne illnesses

Post-surgery care and rehabilitation

Follow-up vet visits and pain management
