On Monday afternoon, I came home from work to find ambulances and police cars outside my property. My heart sank when I saw that my house was on fire. I was devastated and desperately tried to tell someone that my cats were still inside. Thankfully, no family members were home at the time, but we lost everything. We lived in Roselle since 2014 and we never thought something like this could happen to us. We built our lives in his house, all our family gatherings, my sister being raised here, all my rescue animals that I’ve taken care during the years, it’s all just memories now. Knowing we can’t come back and return to normal is unimaginable. The fire destroyed a large part of the roof and the back of the house, and the bottom floor was completely flooded with water. The house will get demolished...
My whole family has been affected, my parents, my 9 year old sister, and myself. We all lost everything in the fire. I have five cats who mean the world to me. One of them is just eight weeks old and needed immediate vet care for smoke inhalation and bleeding from the nose when we found him. Two of my other cats are with me now, but they were wet and scared when I found them, the smell of smoke still present in their fur. Sadly, the other two are still missing. We urgently need support with clothes, food, hygiene items, and basic necessities just to get through each day as we start from zero. Your support will also help us care for our cats, especially with vet expenses for the kitten and food and supplies for all of them.
Thank you everyone for all your support. Your kindness means so much to my family and my cats during this difficult time. Any help you can give will make a real difference as we work to rebuild our lives. I also want to thank the brave firefighters and law enforcement that has helped us.
