Help Janthavy and Sandy Honor Lay Loy's Legacy

Donation protected
My name is Sarah, and I'm asking for help for my best friend and our family. You know her as everyone's favorite girl: Janthavy. Recently, Janthavy's grandfather in Cambodia - the heart of her family, Lay Loy - passed on.

If you know Janthavy, you know that she creates a new standard for the word "selfless". She jumps into action at the first sign of adversity; this goes for loved ones and strangers alike. Not only is she incredibly giving, but she is fiercely independent - she is not exactly known for asking for help. She inherits both her compassion and her gift of always landing on her feet from her mother.

Her mother, Sandy, has survived multiple lifetimes in one. After fleeing genocide and coming to America, she was reunited with her mother, father, and siblings after 16 years of separation. Sandy has always sent money back home to care for her family for over twenty years, visiting as often as possible, and perpetuating deep cultural traditions for Janthavy and her siblings. Janthavy's late brother, Josh, spent time living in Pouk (the village her family resides) and grew incredibly close to Lay Loy. Solace is found in their reunion.

I tell you this history to stress the vital importance of Janthavy and her family's roots - the unconditional love that was passed on from Lay Loy through Sandy, and now Janthavy. When her grandfather passed, it was a quake that shook not only a family who has endured enough loss to last lifetimes but also shook an entire village. Lay Loy was a true philanthropist - always helping his many neighbors when he did not have much to give himself. His leadership in his community is a loss that will be felt for no measurable amount of time.

In April, Janthavy's family in Cambodia will begin the 100 Day Ceremony. This fundraiser serves to cover Janthavy and Sandy's flights to Pouk, the ceremony's costs, and regular life expenses as time off work will be required. I ask that any assistance is given to the two women who always give and ask for nothing in return.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and sending your love!
