Help Janna Fight Cancer!!

Donation protected
I met Janna 28 years ago when I joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Montana. She was an amazingly charismatic, warm, friendly, funny, intelligent, and driven woman and I saw her succeed time and again at anything she put her mind to. Janna hasn’t changed one bit in 28 years. She is still the amazing woman I am so proud to call my sister. Her voice is full of love and life. Janna is incredibly strong and I know she will beat this current obstacle, but she also needs our support. I’m hoping this GoFundMe can ease some of the financial strain she and her family are facing so that she can focus all of her strength on fighting this illness.

Janna is no stranger to life challenges. She lost her first husband in a tragic accident 16 years ago. She and her partner, Anthony, have experienced job loss and several moves, and they settled in Arizona at the end of 2020 to be closer to family. Janna and Anthony have a 13-month-old daughter, Elianna, and recently purchased their own home. Janna describes Elianna as a happy, easy baby and the love in her voice is apparent as she talks about being a mother. Things seemed to have calmed down for her family once they moved to Arizona. Both she and Anthony had good jobs, they were near extended family, and they loved being parents to their sweet little girl.

However, in July 2022, Janna went to the Emergency Room due to a virus that had her feeling under the weather. The virus had progressed to ulcerative colitis and a CT scan was ordered. The CT scan showed lesions on her spine and shortly after that Janna was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, which had metastasized to her spine, right rib, lungs, and hips. She has been in the hospital three times since July and has received 10 rounds of radiation. Janna and her doctors are currently working to find a combination of medications that will target the cancer while trying to limit side effects and mitigate the suppression of her immune system. Janna is unable to work due to her illness and she shared that she has very little energy and her immune system is weakened, putting her at risk for other respiratory illnesses. She uses oxygen due to her lungs being swollen, impacting her ability to breathe. Janna had an MRI a few days ago that showed the tumors as stable, which is a positive report. As she describes it, though, she is facing an uphill battle, and she can use all the support, love, and prayers possible.

Janna has made such a lasting impression on so many of our lives, from our University of Montana days to the current time. Please support her in her battle either through donating, sharing this GoFundMe, or including her and her family in your prayers. Thank you.

Much love,
Ashley
