I am raising money for my beautiful mother Janine Peace who was recently diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig’s disease. At the end of 2018 she will have to stop working at which point she will lose her company covered medical insurance.
The medical expenses for someone with ALS average $250,000 a year much of which is out-of-pocket for the patient. There is a gap in coverage when she leaves her job & waits for medicare and disability to activate. The funds raised will assist in paying for her COBRA coverage, living expenses, motorized wheelchair and making her home & car handicap accessible.
There is no known cure for ALS just a couple treatments to possibly prolong a person's life, which is estimated 2-5 years once diagnosed. This disease robs its victims of the ability to walk, speak, eat and eventually breathe all whole their mind remains completely sharp. We want to make these next few years of her life as comfortable as possible & your generous donations will help us with just that.
