Hello, my name is Nicole Glendinning and my mother, Stephanie Fazzolari and I are raising money for our sister/daughter, Janine Fazzolari Puñales.
First and foremost, we understand that this is a really hard time financially for everyone. Any donation is greatly appreciated. We have already looked into and applied for short term disability for her and any added help will go a long way.
In late April 2024, Janine was recovering from the tail end of a respiratory infection.
She started to experience tingling, weakness and numbness in her hands and feet and within a few days she was having trouble walking and her blood pressure was dangerously high.
She was admitted to the hospital on May 1st. Over the course of the next 7 days, she underwent a battery of tests including a spinal tap and MRI and met with a team of specialists They determined that she has Guillan-Barré Syndrome.
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) which is a rare disorder that occurs when the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system, causing nerve inflammation and muscle weakness or paralysis.
Although she isnt paralyzed, she is unable to work or be by herself . She uses a walker at all times and needs help doing basic daily tasks such as self/pet care. On top of all of that, she cannot drive. She’ll need transportation to and from doctor appointments which includes occupational and physical therapy 2x a week for 12 weeks and acupuncture.
Unfortunately at this time it’s undetermined how long this will affect her physically and will keep her out of work. She works part-time at Whole Foods Market, which is now on a leave of absence from. She is also a freelancer in the music industry as well as a pet sitter so this means since she is unable to work for the foreseeable future, she doesn’t get paid.
My mom and I flew out to San Diego to help with her 24/7 care, however; once my mom and I go back home to the east coast, Nestor, her husband will have to file for FMLA and this will further affect their income. My mother and I want to be able to help elevate some of the financial burden this has caused both her and Nestor but we can’t do it alone.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you could donate/share this post we would greatly appreciate it.
