For as long as many of us have known her, Janie has shared her heart, her time, and her incredible energy as a community organizer. And right there beside her—whether exploring at every opportunity, greeting friends at Life School House events, or brightening up social media with her soft paws and softer eyes—was Maple.

Maple wasn’t just a cat. She was an ill but fiercely loved companion, a greeter, a comfort-bringer, and a quiet thread woven through the fabric of our community. She reminded us daily that love and presence matter, even when bodies are tired or fragile.

Yesterday, Maple crossed the rainbow bridge. Our hearts are heavy, especially for Janie, who gave Maple years of tender care and unconditional love. Alongside grief, Janie is now facing a $600 vet bill—a difficult weight to carry while mourning.
