Help Janice Hear Again: Support Her Implant
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Janice Clark, and I’m asking for your support to help me regain something I’ve been missing since 2016—my ability to hear clearly.
In January 2016, while at work, I suddenly became dizzy and extremely ill. A coworker rushed me to the hospital, and while I was in the emergency room, I lost my hearing completely.
Over the next few months, a small amount of hearing returned, and I was able to use a hearing aid. However, understanding speech has remained incredibly difficult. I was diagnosed with Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL)—a form of permanent hearing loss caused by damage to the inner ear or the auditory nerve pathways.
While SNHL often affects just one ear, I had already been deaf in my right ear. This episode left me with very limited hearing in my only functional ear.
Living with hearing loss has impacted every part of my life. Even with a hearing aid, conversations are hard to follow. I often miss important details at work and feel isolated in social settings. It's emotionally and mentally exhausting.
But there is hope.
A cochlear implant can give me back what hearing aids no longer can. Unlike hearing aids, cochlear implants bypass the damaged parts of the inner ear and directly stimulate the auditory nerve. They can provide a clearer and more accurate sense of sound.
The challenge: While I have insurance, the deductible for the surgery is $6,500, which I cannot afford on my own.
How you can help: Your donation will go directly toward covering the cost of my cochlear implant surgery. Every dollar brings me closer to hearing again.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing my story to help me reach more people who may be able to help.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and support my journey to hear the world again.
With love and gratitude, Janice Clark
