Help Janice Foster's Family with Cremation Costs

Hello.

Yesterday, May 23rd, my mother, Janice Foster, passed away at Sparrow Medical in Lansing, Michigan. She had gone in due to being in septic shock on Tuesday, May 13th, caused by her intestines slipping into an abdominal hernia. She had surgery to remove the dead intestine, but ultimately I had to make the decision to cease treatment and allow her to pass peacefully.

She was 67 years old, and her birthday was on the 30th of this month.

Mine is next month. I will be celebrating our birthdays alone for the first time.

I currently need $1,517 (estimated) in order for my mother's body to be returned to my town and cremated with no other services, and I cannot even receive a death certificate for her until that is done. Due to Michigan law, all cremation must be done through a Funeral Home, and the one I am with demands payment up front before they will transport her body back to our town and do the cremation.

I have no other relatives that can provide this sort of money for me, as my brother is in assisted living and any other family I have is under or at the poverty line or I have long lost contact with. Government assistance will only cover about $220 for the direct cremation being asked for. At the moment, I have no income and live in subsidized housing, and even if I did, it would take a long time to gather up the money needed - and this needs to be done sooner than that.

There is no other option beyond relying on the kindness of others to at least get my mother's ashes returned to me.

I am asking for $4500 as a 'goal', as any money not going towards her transport and cremation will be used to take care of any last bills and expenses, to help with funding a Celebration of her Life at a later date, and to help with keeping my own feet under me as I try to weather this extremely painful and difficult period without the closest person in my life.
