Our dearly beloved Janice and family needs some help from us all. I'm her (chosen) sister Katrina Perry, one of the godparents to her eldest now fully adult child (time really does fly!) She has a lot going on so I'm helping field this part of things a little. She is now undertaking the supremely hard tasks within rebuilding a life after severe and extended (over years) domestic violence. Details are private and sensitive but believe me when I tell you "severe" is appropriate if not insufficient to cover it. Respect her privacy on that.

Now that the abuser is gone all the tasks already here and ahead are extensive. While they're utterly impossible alone, some good ol' community care can get her and her wonderful children on a path to healing and thriving relatively easily. If you have any access to any of the following supplies or processes please message her or me to offer! Understand that it might not be what is needed, but please offer anyway! It'll probably be a huuuge help, whatever it is.

There's many things around the house that need to be repaired or finished before winter sets in, new clothes and supplies to get, bills to be paid, things like that. Regular life stuff and things that were promised to be finished but impossible for her to do alone while caring for everyone. Some *but not all* of these things are:
  • Get insulation and drywall to insulate and finish the ceilings upstairs
  • drywall the ceilings downstairs
  • light fixtures
  • house wrap for the outside walls
  • plumbing supplies
  • exterior door
  • electric bills
  • rugs for the bare plywood floors to help warm and cozy the house
  • dumpster rental
  • help filling that dumpster
  • lawn care assistance
  • clothing and shoes for growing kids
  • shelving and bins for the kids rooms

So the total we're shooting for is actually less than all of those things new. And if you know of any deals on any of these things, please let us know! That's a great help.

I believe heartily in the power of Bloomington community, having seen and been active in it a time or two (hahaha, I lived there from birth-25ish years.) Whether it's a helping hand, a dollar or a door, every little bit counts in helping heal one another. You can make a huge difference in trajectory of this family, and us all. It's all connected, there is no one way revolution. When we heal others we heal ourselves, too. That's the secret the ubiquitous "they" don't want us to know, but tough beans! We DO know it. Let's help our transplant thrive, her and her children deserve a healthy fresh start.

Thank you thank you thank you, whatever you do to help humans. It's all crucial! I'll be updating as things progress.
