I am almost 60 years old and living with a disability that has changed every part of my life. On top of stage 4 kidney disease, I survived a head-on crash with a drunk driver that left my legs full of metal and my hands needing 10 surgeries. Every day is a challenge, and without a car, I am becoming a huge fall risk. I rely on a fixed income, so saving for anything extra is impossible.
I am allowed free rides for medical appointments, but that doesn’t help with daily needs like getting to the store. The pain in my feet and legs makes it hard to get around, and my hands are still recovering from all the surgeries. An electric wheelchair would give me back some independence, let me get out of the house, and make life less painful. It would also accommodate my arms, which is something I really need.
I am not asking for a hand out, but a hand up. Living without a chair means just existing, not truly living. Thank you with all my heart if you can find it in your heart to help.
