Help Janet Get a New Breath on Life
Donation protected
We are over half way there guys!!!! And we could get the call any day!
Whether she is a stranger to you or you know her personally, she needs our help now. Janet has worn many hats throughout her life. Through her many roles ranging from a chaplain helping the elderly, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, Mimi, mom, sister, aunt and friend, she has always been one to help her community and be a leader.
Janet was born with a rare genetic condition called Alpha-1 Antitripsyn Deficiency (AATD). This means her liver does not produce enough of the Alpha-1 Antitrypsin protein, leaving her lungs unprotected from dust, pollution, smoke and the environment. In 2007 she was diagnosed with Emphysema but we didn’t yet know about her AATD. In March of 2013 Janet won her battle against a rare form of Stage III Ovarian Cancer. It wasn’t until 2018 that she was finally diagnosed with AATD for which she needs life long weekly infusions to replace the protein that protects her lungs.
With everything Janet has been through and overcome she remains positive. She now needs a double lung transplant. Janet has been traveling to UCSF from Sacramento (apprx 180miles) for testing for the last 4 years and now it’s finally time for her to have her surgery.
Now is the time for us to rally for her as she has done for so many others. We are asking for donations to help cover lodging, as she will need to remain close to UCSF for a minimum of 8 weeks. She will need 24 hour care during this time. Your donations will help cover the cost of food, prescriptions (as she will need many), hospital and clinic visits, transportation and lost wages during treatment and recovery. All donations AND SHARES are greatly appreciated and will help Janet get her new breath on life, so she can continue doing what she loves, helping her community and loved ones. We will keep you posted throughout her journey. ♥️
