Janel is home and recovering! The doctors in Tampa have worked miracles and Janel has been so strong through all of this. This is still a long road to get back to a new life and we still need help! She will be going to Tampa regularly for medical checkups and is still out of work. We are so thankful for the help and prayers we've received so far.
What started as a complicated leg break has turned into a medical nightmare no family should have to endure. Janel had originally been thought to be doing well when all this began, but after many appointments and hospital stays with nerve damage and hardware infection she eventually ended up in a local hospital with multiple organ failure. Her family was told that she would not make it and should go home under hospice care, words no family should have to hear. Due to vigilance on the part of the family and one doctor who thankfully believed in Janel, Tampa General agreed to take her to try to save her life, although it was unknown if she would even survive the transport there. She has undergone a transplant, and multiple surgeries and complications, and she has proven herself a true fighter.
Her husband, along with her mother, has been by her side continuously due to her uncertain prognosis. With both Janel and her husband out of work the medical and household bills are overwhelming.
Janel has a heart of gold and comes from a service-oriented family. Her father spent his career in law enforcement and Janel has worked many years as a nurse. As the great fighter she is she has made great strides but still has a long road ahead of her. Any support and prayers you have to offer would be welcomed to ensure Janel is able to eventually return to her own home and be reunited with her son who is being cared for by her loving family.
