Help Jane Start a New Life with Freedom

I'm creating this Go Fund Me on behalf of my niece's best friend, who for privacy reasons I'll refer to as Jane. Jane is 20 years old, and was born and raised in the United States to Muslim parents. Up until recently, Jane has lived with her parents in Dublin, California.

Jane has been under the strict control of her parents for most if not all of her life. She has been forced to adhere to strict Muslim religion and practices, and her failure to comply to her parents expectations has led to extreme restrictions on her person and on her freedom.

Jane wants nothing more than to continue her education at the local junior college, and to be able to pursue her interests and her life on her own terms. Her failure to attend a traditional religious education was recently viewed by her parents as an unacceptable defiance to their authority, and justification for their taking extreme measures to restrict her freedom. Not seeing any other way out, Jane gathered her personal belongings and left her family home in the middle of the night.

She had saved a small amount of money that she held in a bank account in her own name, however her parents were able to gain online access to her account and withdrew all of her funds. A claim has already been made with the banking institution to try and recover her funds, but this is just one example of the many obstacles that she is having to overcome.

Jane has secured a safe place to live while she attempts to evade her parents, who have gone as far as sending the sheriff to our homes to come look for her, even though she's an adult. She lives in near constant fear of being grabbed off the street by her parents and forced back to their home where she fears she will be held forcibly captive.

What Jane needs right now, aside from a safe place to live, is a safe and reliable vehicle so that she can find a job and begin the long journey of creating a new life for herself. It's a difficult task for any young adult, and one made that much more difficult without the support of her parents or family who she now fears.

Our goal for the GoFundMe is to try and raise $10,000, as we feel this is the minimum amount needed to purchase a reliable vehicle. My sisters and I are helping Jane simply because she has no one else, and because it's the right thing to do.
